Clinic-based and home-visiting children's physiotherapy service

Little Skippers Paediatric Physiotherapy provides assessment and intervention for children 0 to 16 years of age in our Burleigh clinic or in your home, daycare, school or local park – wherever is convenient for your family.  Once you have made contact with our service, we will arrange to come to you for an initial appointment.

Initial appointment and goal setting

During this appointment we will learn about your child, their medical history and goals.  We then complete a physical assessment of your child’s current skills, strengths and challenges.  Based on this information we work with you to set goals for therapy. For example, you might like to work towards your baby learning to sit without assistance.  For older children you might like your daughter to be able to kick a ball more skillfully so she can play with her friends.  Alternatively, your aim might be for your son to have a wheelchair for school excursions.

Appointment scheduling

Once we have established clear goals, we will then make a plan for your child’s physiotherapy program.  This might be fortnightly or monthly face-to-face sessions with a home program for you to complete between visits.  Occasionally, children may only require a one-off session or ‘check-ins’ a few times a year to maintain their progress.  We will continue to monitor your child’s progress  and can adapt your visiting schedule, location and program as needed.

Equipment prescription and report writing

Some children may require equipment as well as therapy.  Choosing the correct equipment can make a huge difference to your child’s comfort and development.  Little Skippers Paediatric Physiotherapy are able to assist you to select and purchase equipment including sourcing quotes and organising trials for larger items such as seating and mobility equipment.

We are also able to provide reports for ECEI or NDIS, daycare or schools as required.  Contact Little Skippers Paediatric Physiotherapy today to discuss how we can help your child meet their goals.
