Meet Lisa

I am an experienced children’s physiotherapist and have worked full-time in the paediatric setting for the past 14 years.  Throughout that time I have been fortunate to work with children of all ages and have experience with young infants, including premature babies, right through to older teenagers.  I have worked in both hospital and community services in neonatal and special care units, early childhood development centres, orthopaedic, oncology, rheumatology, neurology and neurosurgery wards/services as well as mainstream and special schools.  As part of all of my jobs I have worked closely with a wide range of health professionals including occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, orthotists, paediatricians and orthopaedic surgeons.  Subsequently, I understand the importance of good communication and co-operation between all the agencies involved in your child’s care.

My Mission

My mission is to provide you and your child with effective, personalised physiotherapy in a location and at a time that is convenient to your family.  To achieve this, I first listening to and understand your goals and priorities as well as your child’s preferences.  I use a strengths based approach – where we find the things your child does well and use these to help them grow in other areas.  Most importantly, I believe in celebrating what your child can do, and can learn to do – being realistic and optimistic.

Children make their best progress when they are having fun.  In order to achieve this, I aim to provide therapy with a ‘just right’ challenge – asking your child for their best work while making tasks achievable and enjoyable. I also aim to develop activities for you to work on between sessions that are practical with the time and physical resources you have available.  Throughout our journey together, I will encourage you to provide me with feedback and will work with you to adapt your child’s program as needed.
